Any Gutensite Administrative account can be enabled as a Master Password account. Once enabled, that Admin account can login to any Customer account on your site. To login simply enter the Customers username in the username field, and for the password field enter the Admin account username and password with double colon separating them, e.g.
Username: CUSTOMER USERNAME
Password: ADMINUSER::ADMINPASS.
This validates that the Admin account has Master Password access, and then authenticates login for the Customer's account. Once logged in to the Customer account, you will have all the same access that the customer has. And in some rare cases you may have extra options if such control has been programmed for Master Password accounts in specific contexts.
WHY IS THIS HELPFUL
This option is particularly helpful for Customer Service personnel when helping a customer troubleshoot a problem, or to verify that a customer actually has the items in the cart that they claim, or to try to reproduce a complaint that the client has reported in their account.
ADDING MASTER PASSWORD ACCESS
We recommend you do not give Master Password access every Admin account.
- In your Gutensite Control Panel click on the "Admin" link at the top.
- In your Admin section click on "Admin Accounts".
- Find and Edit the Admin account you want to enable (or create a new Admin account).
- Locate the "Master Password" option and check the box that says "Enable Access to Customer Site Accounts".
