In most cases, removing links you no longer use is the best way to keep your navigation clean and focused. However, there are a couple of scenarios where hiding a link—rather than deleting it—can be advantageous:
- You may need it again later
If you think you’ll repurpose that page or link in the future, hiding it preserves your menu structure without cluttering it. When you’re ready to bring it back, you won’t have to recreate the link from scratch. - You want it in a menu section, but not directly visible
Suppose you have a “Testimonials” page under your About section. You don’t want visitors to find it through the main menu—you’d rather funnel them to your key service or product pages—yet you still wish to “Testimonials” to live alongside other About-section links. By adding the link to the About menu group and then hiding it, you ensure:- The system recognizes “Testimonials” as part of that section (so its siblings appear together)
- Visitors never see “Testimonials” in the dropdown or sidebar unless you share the URL directly
In both cases, hiding provides flexibility without compromising a tidy, user-friendly menu.
